You separate work and private life. Your problems don't.
The co-founder conflict that has been escalating for months has the same structure as the conflict with your brother. The team that doesn't trust you is mirroring a family dynamic that was never examined. The decision you cannot make hinges on a relationship you cannot resolve.
No coach sees both sides. No therapist sees the organisation. No mediator sees the family behind the contract. The problem falls through every category — not because it is unsolvable, but because no one looks at it as a whole.
Two paths — one core
When the relationship hurts
- Partnership in crisis or broken down
- Estrangement from your own children
- Team conflicts that feel personal
- Generational conflict in a family business
- Isolation at the top
When leadership stalls
- Decisions that are really value decisions
- The organisation is mirroring something you don't understand
- Succession — giving or receiving
- Ethical dilemmas with no clear answer
- Growth crisis: structure vs. culture
In both cases, what lies beneath is the same: the relational order of the system is disturbed.
You have power, but no place.
Success without belonging. Influence without order.
Why the usual formats fall short
| Executive coaching | Couples therapy | Classical constellation | This work | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Focus | Professional performance | Personal relationship | One system | Both systems as one |
| Method | Questioning techniques | Talk therapy | Constellation | Constellation + philosophical diagnostics |
| Diagnosis | What do you want to achieve? | What do you feel? | Where is the order disturbed? | What is driving you — and how is it all connected? |
| Outcome | Behavioural change | Emotional relief | Ordering impulse | Judgement + order + integration |
A case study
Katharina, 44, designated successor of a mid-sized company. Her father, 71, won't let go. The handover has been stalled for two years. A mediator drew up a plan. The father read it, agreed — and changed nothing.
Katharina is not overwhelmed by the work. She is fighting something she cannot grasp. It is not resistance. It is something else.
In the constellation, it becomes clear: the problem is not the father. The problem is the brother — Katharina's older brother, who left the company fifteen years ago. The family does not talk about it. The father has never accepted that his son left.
The father cannot let go because he is unconsciously waiting for his son. Katharina is — systemically speaking — not the successor, but the stand-in. The place she is meant to fill is still occupied, even though the brother has long been physically absent.
The work does not revolve around the succession plan. It revolves around the family's order. A conversation with the brother takes place — the first honest one in years. Six months later, the father signs the succession agreement. Not because the plan improved, but because he let go of his son.
As long as your brother has no good place in the system, you cannot take yours.
